KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Pahang bagged six awards at the National Integrity, Governance and Anti-corruption Awards (AIGA 2022) for setting an example of good organisational governance which is transparent, well managed and corruption free.
The inaugural award ceremony organised by Malaysian institute of integrity(IIM) was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to recognise and appreciate 70 organisations, public and private sector that have shown commitment and effort in cultivating integrity and good governance practices.
YP Plantations Holdings Sdn Bhd (YPPH), a subsidiary of Yayasan Pahang (YP) won the Gold Award, while six subsidiaries won awards in the Silver and Bronze categories, on Wednesday.
YPPH managing director and YP chief executive officer Datuk Indera Mahmud Mohd Nawawi said he was honoured to receive the awards as it gives YP international recognition for its governance and values in delivering their services.
Speaking to the New Straits Times after the award ceremony, Mahmud said with the award, the organisation was privileged to receive such an endorsement which is of international standards.
“We are very happy and pleased to receive not one but six awards at AIGA 2022. This is a step in the right direction for YP and it’s subsidiaries, as we now know where our standards are and will continue to strive to be better this year,” he said.
“AIGA 2022 is a prestigious award. With this award, we can gain the public’s trust in engaging with the YP group,” he said, adding that YP was also happy to set a trend for others to practice integrity and exercise systematic governance.
Mahmud added that all YP subsidiaries that received the awards were also ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Corruption Management System (ABMS) certified by SIRIM QMS International.
“All our hardwork and determination has paid off. If you notice, the entry process for this award needs you to meet a list of requirements, including ISO certification. It is not easy to get shortlisted and selected for the award,” he said.
Mahmud said YP group hopes to win the Platinum awards in next year’s awards.
“As YP chairman and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail always says, we can’t be static. We must always be progressive and dynamic if we want to do better. This year we won six awards, one in the gold category, two in the silver and bronze category so our next aim is the Platinum award,” he said.
He congratulated all YP staff for their commitment and contribution in bringing the foundation to greater heights through practising good governance and integrity in their respective organisations under the YP group.
“We hope to do our best in making sure that YP management and staff uphold spirit of integrity and transparency in ensuring good governance within the organisation.
The six other awards were awarded to YP subsidiaries namely Universiti Kolej Yayasan Pahang (UCYP), Kolej Yayasan Pahang Advanced Skills (KYPAS) who received the Silver Award, Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang (MTNP) received the Bronze Award, while YP Mining Sdn Bhd and YP Land Sdn Bhd each received a certificate of participation.
Earlier, Fadillah in his speech said AIGA 2022 will set the benchmark for internal management systems focused on good governance to curb corruption in any organisation.
“This award organised by IIM is inline with the new Unity Government’s call and efforts to uplift integrity and eliminate corruption at all levels, both in private as well as public sector. We hope to make this an annual affair,” he said while congratulating the award recipients.
